Consisting of reading files, budget materials, and numerical and alphabetical subject files relating to all aspects of the division's administration and activities, the files cover such topics as divisional organization and management, budget and finance, manuals, legislation, personnel, policy and procedure, rules and regulations, programs, workload analysis, meetings, federal programs, public relations, safety and injuries, public education, buildings and structures, equipment, supplies, methods and evaluations, and cooperation with various local, regional, and national forestry organizations and associations. Included are materials created under its successors, the Division of Forestry and the Bureau of Land.

The Pine Island Civilian Conservation Corp camp was established on June 21, 1933 and operated until August 1934. The site sat idle until January 1935, when it became a transient camp under the Work Projects Administration (WPA) and State Emergency Relief Administration.
